My Night Time Skincare Routine

IMG_3783 editI’m very flattered to get requests to share more details about my Night-time Skincare Routine, after I posted the video on my Instagram a few days ago. And, so here is everything you need to know.

I’ve always had skin problems. It’s sensitive, acne-prone, oily and yet dry on my cheeks! Therefore, it is difficult for me to find products that are suited to my unbalanced skin type. This night routine is one that I have perfected over the years, with a lot of trial and error.

So here is my Night-time Skincare Routine that will work wonders for you if you have sensitive and combination skin. (I know it is long, but it works!)

Step 1 –  Remove makeup with BioDerma Sensibio H2O

BIODERMA_Sensibio_H2O_100ml_1430323062BioDerma is one of my favorite brands, and this is definitely the best makeup remover I have used for sensitive skin. The Sensibio H2O Make-up Removing Micelle Solution cleanses and removes all makeup (including water-proof) from face and eyes in about two cotton pads!
Even on broken skin or a painful pimple, it is extremely soothing and helps to minimize redness. I have never had a breakout with this, since it is fragrance, paraben and alcohol free. It needs no rinsing after use and can even be used as a toner to rebalance the skin’s pH or to feel fresh.
Available at Boots Pharmacy
Cost: AED 35 for 100ml

Step 2- Cleanse & Exfoliate with Sephora Green Tea Exfoliating Cleansing Cream

25411_SephoraCollection_ExfoliatingCreamGreenTea_WEBI picked this face wash a month ago after hearing so much about Sephora’s new range of cleansers that are for different skin types. I chose the Green Tea Exfoliating Cleansing Cream suited specifically for combination skin. Green Tea is an amazing natural ingredient to control excess oil on the skin and fight blemishes with its antioxidant and astringent properties.
This cream cleanser is velvety in texture with a slight scent of green tea and it does a flawless job of cleansing the skin. The micro-pearls in the cream help to gently exfoliate the skin by unclogging pores and removing dead/dry skin. It does not leave the skin dry or sticky, but instead balances skin moisture levels, leaving the skin feeling smooth like a baby’s bottom! It is definitely a product I will be buying again!
Available at Sephora
Cost: AED 30 for 50ml

Step 3- Treat Skin with Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads

6519_xlargeNip+Fab products are all over social media lately; especially, their Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads. I just had to see for myself if this was actually effective, and I am so glad I decided to try them! The box contains 60 pads soaked in glycolic acid, which helps to exfoliate the skin. It also contains witch hazel that helps to tone, hyaluronic acid to moisturize and blue daisy to reveal brighter, smoother skin. The combined properties of these ingredients make this product perfect for combination skin that is acne prone or has acne marks.
I have been using this since a month and the first thing I noticed was it eliminated any dry patches on my skin, which helps me to apply my makeup more flawlessly! I had read reviews that it helps eliminate the tiny bumps on the skin, and it has definitely done that; my skin has a much more smoother texture, a more even skin tone and tighter pores. It did not give me a tingling sensation at all, but I would not advise you to use it on active acne since it has a high concentration of glycolic acid.
It is a great addition to my night routine as a combination skin treatment; the ingredients help in repairing the skin overnight. I even notice that I get fewer breakouts, since this treatment acts as a preventive measure against any new acne without drying or irritating the skin. It definitely gets an A+ from me!

Step 4- Tone with Lush Tea Tree Water

00405Lush Tea Tree Water is toner water. It contains Tea Tree Water and Grapefruit water, which helps keep the skin fresh and balanced. Not only, does the Tea Tree ingredient help combat my oily/combination skin type, it also helps keep my skin blemish-free. To note, this toner is alcohol free.
I have been using this since at least 7 years now and it works wonders for my skin! I usually spray about 5-6 pumps all over my face once I’m doing washing my face. It helps to tighten the pores and gets absorbed quite quickly, leaving the skin moisturized and fresh.

Step 5- Use Botanics All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On

picture 87723I am an ardent fan of Boots Pharmacy, because I think they keep the best brands! I discovered this eye roll on by Botanics over a year ago and I have not used any other night eye cream since. It contains hibiscus, which is a natural brightening booster packed with AHA to help reduce dark circles and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and reduce puffiness.
Since it a light weight gel, it gets absorbed really quickly and immediately gives a cooling sensation under the eyes. I love the fact that it is a roll on, which makes it super easy to apply any time of day. I have noticed that my dark circles are not as prominent anymore and this roll on is the best cure for tired eyes especially after a long night of partying. It also keeps the under eyes hydrated which means no creasing during eye makeup the next morning!
Available at Boots Pharmacy
Cost: AED 50

Step 6- Moisturize with Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil

68332Before I talk about this magic potion in a bottle, let me tell you I never use any oil on my skin after I had a horrible break out using organic coconut oil on my face as a makeup remover. Having combination skin is tricky, since the oil has to able to balance sebum levels and moisturize the dry patches at the same time.
When I went for the Dermalogica Facial recently, I was given the Phyto Replenish Oil to try. It is a feather-light treatment oil, containing lipids (tamanu, orchid flower & chia seed oil) and antioxidants (sunflower & rice bran) that reinforces the skin’s natural protective barrier that is worn out by aging and environmental factors.  It claimed to be for all skin types; which already had my antenna up!
I used it the first day as recommended; 4-6 drops pressed into my skin at night which got absorbed within minutes, with no greasy effect. The results I saw the next day and hereafter were unreal; not only did it hydrate my dry areas, but didn’t cause any extra oiliness in the T-zone either! Over time, I visibly saw my skin become smoother and almost glowing to the point that people around me asked me what I was doing. With such positive outcomes, who wouldn’t fall in love with this oil! Safe to say, it is officially part of my Holy Grail now.
Available at The Artist Beauty Lounge
Cost: AED 329 for 30ml

Step 7- Apply Shahnaz Hussain ShaClove Clarifying Mask as an Overnight Mask

This is one product I absolutely can’t live without since the last 4 years! ShaClove, which contains clove extract, has been a miracle worker in drying out pimples and making them vanish. I use it every night all over my face or just on the pimples. The next morning the pimples are significantly dried out and smaller. I also notice that the blemishes or spots left behind from previous acne scars have slowly over time to give me a more mattified and even skin tone.
Compared to other acne products, this does not over dry the skin at all. Over time, it has reduced inflammation, cleared blemishes and keeps the oiliness around the t-zone at bay, which in turn reduces any acne. It can be used as a cure or a preventive measure against acne or any other kinds of problems that may occur.
Available at Shahnaz Hussain Signature Salon
Cost: AED 60 for 25mg
