A Morning of Wellness

C’mon inner peace. I don’t have all day!

On International Women’s Day, RE-Salons and Spas held an event to celebrate women! The event had activities for us to relax and rejuvenate ourselves; it was all about wellness.

Now before I get in to further details of the event, let me tell you a little bit about how International Women’s Day started. Women’s Day first emerged from the protests of women at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and Europe. The first ever National Women’s Day was in honor of the 1908 garment workers’ strike in New York, where women protested against working conditions, and was observed in USA on 28th February, 1909!

From then on, more and more women were empowered to protest against gender, economic and social inequalities. In 1975, the United Nations declared March 8th as International Women’s Day in honor of all women and their achievements.

Not only is this day for remembering all the Wonder Women who have fought over the years to get us in the position we are today, but it is also to pamper ourselves. This Women’s Wellness event was designed to do just that! The event was held at Provedore Restaurant at Sunset Mall.

The event started off with a yoga session by Inspire Yoga. The session was an hour long and was the perfect way to begin the day and unwind from the stress of the week. I really enjoyed the session and felt so at peace when it was done.

Spot me if you can!

RE-Salons and Spas had also arranged a small day care service right at the event, so mothers with babies could enjoy the yoga session whilst their babies were taken care of. This service was provided by Sublime Home Healthcare Centre.

We even had masseurs from RE-Salons and Spas to give us express back massages, which honestly just made me feel like going home straight to bed!

After all the yoga and massage time, I was famished, so I was elated to see the amazing spread of yummy croissants and beverages provided to us by Povedore Restaurant. While we ate, there was a Happiness talk by Rikkie Ebel, who is a certified life coach. The talk was all about how to be happy and overcoming everyday obstacles with positivity. I think this was such a wonderful end to this event, and I just felt so energized after it.
