A Treat At Talise

Last month I had the pleasure of having the most lavish spa experience at the Talise Spa at Burj Al Arab. This was arranged by my parents as one of my birthday gifts and I couldn’t have asked for anything more relaxing and rejuvenating after my birthday parties.

The Talise Spa is located 150 meters above sea level at one of the most luxurious five-star hotels in the world, the Burj Al Arab. The spa offers everything, from facial to organic body wraps, using world-renowned brands such as La Prairie, QMS Medicosmetics and Sundari.

This hotel is the most beautiful!

I was booked for a QMS Face and Body Renewal, which lasts 140 minutes (AED 1695). As with any spa treatment I go for, I always research the products they will use the night before, since I have sensitive skin. QMS Medicosmetics treatments are the newest addition to the Talise Spa menu. QMS products were voted the best spa brand in 2016 and are suited to all skin types. Its ingredients mainly include collagen, plant stem cells,  proteins, hyaluronic acids, vitamins, fruit acids and antioxidants, that combat inflammation, ageing, cell damage, pigmentation and dryness.

Upon entering the spa, I was quickly attended to and offered a welcome drink and a hand towel, while I waited for my therapist. I was in total awe of the interiors, from the painted ceiling to the arched hallways. In a few minutes, I was escorted to the women’s changing room, where my therapist gave me a short tour of all the facilities that I could use, which included the steam & sauna rooms, a jacuzzi and an indoor pool. I felt I was in a Sheikh’s palace at this point!  She then helped me put my things into a locker and waited while I changed into their bath robe (the softest robe ever…felt like a blanket!) and slippers. The changing room seemed fit for royalty and had this beautiful tile work all over.

I have a thing for pretty ceilings

How beautiful is this spa!

I was then taken to one of the rooms to begin my spa treatment. The room was already prepped and ready. I was made to sit and fill in a form listing basic information and areas I wanted the treatment to be focused on, while the therapist soaked my feet in rose water. With rose petals all over and that amazing view from the 18th floor, I was all set to be pampered.

Soak your feet in rose water…YAAS!

This was such a sweet gesture by Talise!

Hello view!

My therapist started off with a scrub and massage, specifically to target cellulite on the legs. She then went on to give me a full body massage, and believe me when I say that the moment she started, I dozed off in a few minutes! Her hands were clearly magic, to make my body feel so stress-free. She then moved on to do the QMS facial; she cleansed, exfoliated and then covered my entire face with an algae mask (it smelled amazing!) to replenish my skin with nutrients. At this point, I was so relaxed that I never wanted to leave. So, I was glad that after the algae mask, there was another sheet mask to end the treatment and hydrate my skin. While the sheet mask did its job, I was given a head and shoulder massage.

I was all set to sleep after this spa session…so relaxed!

After this queen-like treatment, I was taken to the changing room. I got back into my normal clothes and proceeded to the next phase of my pampering session, the Talise Treats. Talise Treats (AED 245), is the afternoon tea service that can be added to any of the spa journeys you wish to embark on. A selection of sandwiches, breads and desserts, with a choice of tea/coffee or champagne is served in the Assawan Amphitheatre, right outside the spa doors. It was the perfect end to the most amazing afternoon!

In the days following, my skin was glowing and felt as smooth as a baby’s bum. My body was so relaxed; my muscles were no longer sore and I got the best sleep ever that night. This was definitely one of the most glamorous spas I have ever been to and I can’t wait to go back and try their other treatments.

How cute are these small Dallahs (Arab coffee pots)!

For anyone wishing to experience pure luxury and glam, a visit to the Talise Spa at Burj Al Arab is a must. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, this spa package might just be the thing you are looking for as the perfect treat for you and your spouse!
